Such a deafening pronouncement
as the message shook
these very walls
ringing even the ghosts
out of the machine

a truly terrifying announcement
as we all took
to safe halls
wishing to be in the center
of this raging storm

yes it kept me 
from my waking hour
even made me miss
the morning ritual

almost as if to say
it was the only continual
