It's a full month before my life-day
the celebration this year
will be a rather low-keyed affair
--- I've been asking myself just why

then I spied my astrology for this week
it points toward a crucial detail
always left out of a well known
... transformation homily

It seems the butterfly
when first struggling from
the caterpillar cocoon
is weak and rather helpless

in fact it's lucky if not eaten
by numerous a predator

This certainly is a lesson
well heeded by me

for in the coming weeks
I plan to be free
